Tim Smith
For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with the topics of learning, cognition, psychology, brains, memory and knowledge. I’ve been lucky to spend many decades studying, working and creating around various segments of the cognitive sciences. Over the years I have become convinced that surrounding ourselves with new and interesting ideas is one of our best ways forward toward mental health, personal growth and happiness. My hope is that the Big Sky project provides some opportunities to hang out together around as many of those ideas as we like, whenever we like.
I have several active areas of research, design and long-term projects: Software environments supporting the exploration of autobiographical writing, photography, lifelong learning, knowledge engineering, note-taking, tutoring systems, personal knowledge agents, intelligent database design, applied AI, multi-modal internalization, memory, personality formation, enriched learning environments, travel, culture exploration, learning and visualization of historical data, interdisciplinary, associative and integrative learning, entrepreneurial lifelong learning, rational emotive psychology, neuroscience.
