Perspective Dynamics
The concepts surrounding notions like perspective, point-of-view, perspective taking, world view are key to any exploration of cognition.
We might say that taking a perspective is the act of moving point of view from one set of cognitive contexts to another set. The new point of view may seem to be located within the same mind, or may in some ways occur from within the vantage point of contexts located in other minds. It may seem to be located in the current time, a past time or a future time. It may seem to be located in minds that exist now or in minds that have not yet or will never exist. It may seem to be located in a human mind or another kind of mind. It may seem not to be located in a mind at all.
The actual locus of the point of view never actually leaves the mind of the person, but rather is instantiated in a new or virtual set of cognitive contexts within the same mind.
Attempts at instantiations of other cognitive contexts is always partial and approximate. As such they are always new vantage points - whether the viewer is aware of it or not.
The act of instantiating cognitive contexts, however partial, changes the mind which is hosting them.
Perspective Dynamics play a key role whenever cognitive contexts interact:
