Concept Stream

Concept Stream flows down from at least one source within the Big Sky Mountain range. Like the rest of the Big Sky Mountain area, Concept Stream is beautiful ... and mysterious.

It's called Concept Stream because many years ago some people (mostly children) said that sometimes when they fished out a leaf from the stream they found water-marked writings on it - little sayings, phrases or just single words. They said the words faded away almost as soon as they pulled them out.

Well, there is a bend in the stream running right outside the Big Sky Café so naturally lots of people go out there and fish leaves out in hopes of finding something. This has mostly been just for fun. But recently people have been claiming that they have been finding markings and other strange things. They've been drawing up what they claim to see on the black boards inside the café. This leads to lots of discussion.

Some are guessing that some of the leaves are not leaves at all - they say that as the "leaves" go by, that they glimpse surfaces, colors, reflections, patterns. Some even report strange "behaviors" like purposeful movements, as leaves move around together - as if they were linking up for short times before drifting apart. Some even swear that downstream a bit they saw some of them "get out and walk around and get back in." Now, we do serve alcohol - so nobody really pays attention to a lot of this.

Well, at any rate, it seems like something new gets reported almost every day now. It's attracting a lot of attention. Naturally more and more people are spending time hanging out there by Concept Stream, so we got the idea of extending the Café by opening up a picnic area, with some tables, lounge chairs and things, so that you can take your Café drinks right on out.

We’re also gonna collect some of the markings (we'll call them Concepts) that people report and post them on this website. For those of us connected in various ways (like WeChat) we'll put our heads together and see what we can figure out. There are plans to use semantics, game theory, data modeling, even computer programs to try to see what's going on. So - you can participate in that if it sounds fun or just hang out, have something to drink and watch the stream, and the leaves, go by!
